Students and staff at Durrington High School are gearing up to dance the night away as part of their preparations for this year’s Global Rock Challenge.
A team of 90 students and 12 staff will take part in the 24-hour Danceathon at the school from 7pm on Friday 19 October, to 7pm on Saturday 20 October, with teams enjoying ballet, tap, musical theatre and contemporary dance workshops, dance offs and a disco hour.
The event is being staged for the first time to raise money for the school’s entry into Global Rock Challenge 2013 and bring students together as part of a team.
Mrs Isham, RAC Drama, who is organising the Danceathon says “I hope this event will inspire our students to create the biggest and best Rock Challenge entry ever. The money we raise will go towards buying our set, costumes and transport for the event.”
The staff and students will be in three teams during the 24-hour Danceathon, with one team dancing while the other two are resting.
Global Rock Challenge 2013 will be held in March at The Hawth Theatre in Crawley and this will be Durrington High’s ninth year participating in it.
