Clear computing competition at Worthing College.

On Tuesday 4th February, seven students from Year 8 took part in the Clear computing competition at Worthing College where they had to design their own social network site.
Below is an account of the day, from two of the students who took part.

“When we arrived at Worthing college we got taken up to the large office like area, where we were greeted by a team of local entrepreneurs and others who organised the event; our task was then explained to us and we had to make a website design (on paper) for people in education then later present it in the form of a pitch.
We really enjoyed presenting our pitch in front of the entrepreneur even though at first we were really nervous; after we presented it we were extremely pleased with our final design, it was also great being able to work in teams and we all ensured everyone got to input something into our final piece!

We feel that after this day we have gained a little more confidence from the pitch and have strengthened our team skills/creative skills when working in our groups on the first ideas.”
ICT teacher Nicky Hayes who attended the day with students said “The students did a fantastic job of designing their social network sites and presenting their ideas to a number of local entrepreneurs and many other students. Although the students did not win the competition, they showed they had some fantastic ideas for a future social network site designs as well as brilliant team work skills.”
