National cup round 1
This was the first fixture for the year 8 boys football team. The boys took a while to settle but maintained a decent battle against the home side. DHS had a few opportunities to score but some good defending and strong goalkeeping kept DHS at bay. Some excellent goalkeeping from Taylor Seamour kept the score’s blank until a controversial penalty decision gave the home side the advantage.
The second half went a similar way with both team attacking and a defensive errors resulting in good saves from both goal keepers. With DHS pressing to score, Forest scored a breakaway goal to settle the tie. “As a first team performance the players have given solid foundations to build upon.” Said manager Mr Sculley.
A high paced game in which DHS where on top from the start, with a cracking ball through by Tom Chalaye, DHS took the lead thanks to a fantastic lob by Dylan Trusler from 25 yards out. With DHS leading they won a corner down the right, taken by Tom. Again he put it on a plate for Franklin Allen to smash his header in the back of the net on his debut.
Unfortunately DHS’s goalie misjudged the ball and it slipped into the corner of the goal to make the score 2-1 at half time. DHS kept there confidence and Frankie slipped James walker through to regain the two goal cushion. James then scored his second goal of the game with a cool, calm finish past the helpless keeper. After a nice flick on by Tom, Frankie chased on to the ball and finished with his weak foot to wrap up an emphatic victory for DHS in their first league game of the season. Great result boys, keep it up!

This game was a very one sided affair. DHS got off to a flying start and scored within minutes of the Kick off. With chances being missed on a regular basis, this gave hope to the home side but there hope was soon dismissed with two quick goals and some great team play by DHS. Mr Corbett had changed the formation for this game to a 3-5-2 which seemed to have a great effect on how DHS played. With another team goal just before half time making it 4-0, Mr Corbett rung the changes at half time bringing on the 3 substitutes and DHS carried on where they had left off, scoring quickly to continue the good work. The goal scoring continued on a regular basis in the second half. A great start to the season and a very good performance by all. A special mention must go to Jack Gander in goal who touched the ball twice once in each half.
Goal scorers were Elliot Bennett = 4, Callum Chalmers=1, Matt Clarke=1, Dan Hills= 2,Tom De Boer=1,Connor Tarpey =1.
